Live View
Watch your agents work in real-time.
Live View
Your agent has been running for twelve minutes. It just decided to refactor the entire authentication module. You want to see what is happening right now — not after it finishes, not from a stale log file. You want to watch the decisions land in real-time, see screenshots appear the instant the UI changes, and know immediately if something goes sideways.
Live View gives you that window. It turns Dashcam from a flight recorder into a live feed.
How It Works
When a Claude Code session starts, the SessionStart hook fires an HTTP POST to the Dashcam daemon. The daemon registers the session as active and begins broadcasting events over a WebSocket connection to any connected dashboard.
Every subsequent hook — PostToolUse, PreToolUse, Stop — arrives at the daemon and is immediately pushed to the dashboard. There is no polling. No refresh button. Events appear on the timeline within 100ms of occurring.

SQLite (persist)The dashboard connects to ws://localhost:57580/ws on load and subscribes to the events, captures, live, and agents channels. From that moment, every event streams directly into the timeline canvas.
Live Indicators
Active sessions are impossible to miss in the dashboard. Several visual cues make live state obvious at a glance:
Pulsing green dot — Every active agent displays a green dot that pulses with a 2-second ease-in-out animation. This dot appears on session cards in the browser, on swim lane labels in the timeline, and in the status bar.
Event counter — The session card shows a live event count that increments as hooks arrive. Watch it tick upward as your agent writes files, runs tests, and makes decisions.
Elapsed timer — A running clock shows how long the session has been active. This timer is synchronized with the 5-hour window countdown in the status bar.
Streaming border — Active session cards in the browser display a thin animated gradient border — a subtle but unmistakable signal that work is in progress.
Following Mode
When Live View is active, the timeline defaults to Following mode. In this mode:
- The playhead is pinned to the rightmost edge of the timeline
- New events appear and the view auto-scrolls to keep them visible
- All panels (Chat, Code, Result) update to reflect the latest state
- The time ruler advances as the session progresses
Following mode behaves like watching a live stream — you always see the most recent activity.
Manual Scrub
Click anywhere on the timeline, or drag the playhead backward, and Following mode pauses automatically. You are now in manual scrub mode:
- The playhead stays where you placed it
- Panels show the historical state at that position
- New events continue to arrive and are rendered on the timeline, but the view does not scroll
This lets you review something the agent did three minutes ago without losing the live feed. When you are ready to catch up, click the Live button in the playback controls (or press L) to snap back to Following mode.

Connecting to Remote Sessions
If Dashcam is running on a remote server (an EC2 instance, a Hostinger VPS, any machine with SSH access), you can watch live sessions from your local browser.
Via SSH tunnel (recommended):
ssh -L 57580:localhost:57580 user@your-serverThen open http://localhost:57580 locally. The WebSocket connection tunnels through SSH, so you get the same real-time experience as if the agent were running on your machine.
Via direct connection (requires --host 0.0.0.0):
If the remote daemon was started with dashcam start --host 0.0.0.0, you can point your browser directly at http://your-server:57580. The WebSocket connection upgrades on the same port.
Direct connections over the public internet are unencrypted in v1. Use an SSH tunnel or place a reverse proxy (nginx, Caddy) with TLS in front of the daemon for production use.
Multi-Agent Live View
When multiple agents are running simultaneously — whether via Claude Squad worktrees, Loki Mode's 41 agent types, or parallel Claude Code sessions — Live View renders a separate swim lane for each active agent.
Each swim lane pulses with its own green dot, and events from different agents interleave on the shared time axis. You can see, at a glance, which agents are actively producing events and which have gone quiet.
The status bar summarizes the fleet: 3 agents active | 247 events | $1.23 | 2h 17m remaining.
